The Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA), with support from the Embassy of Ireland through Oxfam in Cambodia, organized a technical reflection meeting on “The Development of Green Financing Products Aligned with the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy for the Banking Sector in Cambodia” on July 24, 2026.

This reflection meeting aimed to enhance the understanding of financial institutions participating in the Climate Resilience for All (CREFA) project regarding the implementation of the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, review the progress of green financing product development, and gather key inputs to determine activities and additional technical support to help financial institutions implement the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy in Cambodia more effectively.

On that occasion, Mr. Chhorn Vathanak, Secretary General of the Cambodia Microfinance Association, stated that the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy for the Banking Sector in Cambodia, which was officially launched by the National Bank of Cambodia, is an important framework that will help financial institutions identify, develop, and manage green financing products in accordance with national standards and international practices.

He also encouraged financial institutions to continue cooperating with the Association, exchanging experiences, sharing challenges, and seeking joint solutions to strengthen the implementation of sustainable finance, develop green financing products, and contribute to the implementation of the Royal Government’s sustainable finance policy, as well as support the achievement of Cambodia’s sustainable development goals.

It should also be noted that this important reflection meeting was attended by Mr. Sok Khim, representative of Oxfam in Cambodia; Mr. Wilson Soo, representative of Sevea Consulting; as well as technical working groups and representatives from numerous financial institutions.
