Cambodia Microfinance Association Organizes (CMA) the 2nd Rural Credit Institution Club Meeting for 2026 with the objective of strengthening cooperation, sharing information, and discussing challenges, opportunities, compliance, and key strategic directions for the rural credit sector, aiming to promote the development of the club as well as the rural credit sector in Cambodia. The meeting was attended by Mr. Sok Voeun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cambodia Microfinance Association; Mr. Men Phakdey, Deputy Director General of Regulation and Financial Inclusion of the National Bank of Cambodia; Mr. Dy Sitha, Chairman of the Rural Credit Institution Club and Member of the Board of Directors of the Cambodia Microfinance Association; Mr. Chhorn Vathanak, Secretary General of the Cambodia Microfinance Association; along with club leaders, members, and relevant stakeholders, totaling 40 participants. On this occasion, Mr. Sok Voeun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cambodia Microfinance Association, highlighted the progress and contribution of the rural credit sector to economic and social activities, particularly its contribution to promoting access to finance among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He emphasized that rural credit institutions have been and are continuing to provide micro and very small-scale credit to citizens to support family-owned businesses and improve their living standards. He added that as of the end of 2025, rural credit institutions had total assets of 30.80 million US dollars and provided a total loan portfolio of 28.07 million US dollars to over 30,000 customers through nationwide operations. The Association will continue to strengthen the role of the Rural Credit Institution Club through meetings, discussions, and information sharing to enhance cooperation, capacity, and the resolution of members’ challenges, contributing to making the rural credit and microfinance sectors stronger and more sustainable.
